Three Year Swim Club is a 90-minute play based on the true, inspirational story of Coach Soichi Sakamoto, a science teacher who trained Hawaiian youths to be OLYMPIC CHAMPIONS! In the 1930s, children of plantation workers were thought to amount to nothing until Coach Sakamoto taught them swimming in the irrigation ditches of Maui. Despite not having a pool, these swimmers went on to win a slew of NCAA championships and two gold medals at the LONDON OLYMPICS in 1948. Hula dancing shapes the beauty of this real-life Hawaiian fairy tale as a metaphor for swimming.
